Putting learners always at the center
The first phase of the project will engage potential micro-credential learners to explore their challenges, concerns, and needs

What are the main objectives of the first phase of MESHE?
Development of an Advocacy and Motivation Pack on Micro-credentials for Learners
The first phase of the project will begin by gathering feedback from learners through Focus Discussion Groups organised in 8 different countries. The information will help design a pack to motivate learners to enrol in micro-credential programmes. We will also develop a rationale to help HEIs understand the learners’ perspectives.
Steps:
- Focus Discussion Groups in AT, BE, DE, EE, ES, FR, IE, TR.
- Online consultation with industry and civil society stakeholders
- Questionnaire for current learners
- Peer Learning Seminar to share information
- Transversal analysis of findings
- Development of the Advocacy and Motivation Pack
Adult learners are not always confident that the effort they put into studying will have the returns they expect. Recognition, for instance, is often a key concern when they invest their time and personal resources in further education.

What kind of reassurances can HEIs offer to learners? How can universities identify industry needs and learner interests and incorporate them into the design of new programmes?
MESHE will begin by gathering first-hand insights from learners, comparing these with stakeholders’ perspectives, and using the findings to develop tools for HEIs and industry, while simultaneously delivering a message that motivates learners
What barriers prevent learners from enrolling in new courses? What kinds of guarantees would encourage them to take the next step?
